Why is cultural competence important for doulas?

Cultural competence is essential for doulas as it enables them to provide respectful and relevant support tailored to the diverse backgrounds of their clients. By understanding and appreciating the varying cultural beliefs, practices, and values surrounding childbirth and parenting, doulas can create a supportive environment that honors each client's unique experience.
